Pink Purse Project

Service Learning Projects
A great way to teach students about giving back to their communities.

Anwatin School in Minneapolis partnered with the Pink Purse Project in 2009 to collect purses and toiletries as a Service Learning Project. It was the student's responsibility to collect the items from community members, family and friends. They decided on the approach to take in soliciting the items and were quite successful as you can see in the picture. Students learned about giving back to their community and the impact that these collected items would have on people that would receive them.

Ann Dillard and her girls from the Columbia Hights Middle School set up a purse/toiletry drive at their school. They collected purses and toiletries from students and staff. They brought their items to the Pink Purse Project office where they sorted all the toiletries and organized purses for distribution. Lynne Young gave the girls an exciting and powerful empowerment message as she encouraged the girls to study hard, do good in school, serve in their communities and alway find ways to help their  peers be successful.
